Tuesday Tech Talk: Slide In and Share

This week will be focused on a great new tool that will help you to share your presentations on your web site. In the past, presentations were created and delivered before a live audience. Once that presentation was complete, you would have made either a PDF of the file or just added a link to the actual file on your web site. Well, I am here to tell you that approach is “Old School.”

Welcome to the world of Slideshare.net. This is a new tool that will allow you to embed your great presentations directly on your blog or web site for free. Imagine allowing users to look right at your presentation without having to worry about downloads or plugins. Another advantage to this new tool is that users will no longer have to leave your site. Let’s face it, we all want to increase the convenience of our readers and to allow them to stay on our sites once we get them there, right? Great! Now you have a tool that will allow them to do just that.

Here is a tour and example of Slideshare.net

Think of all of the uses you can do with this:

- Create a tutorial where you list all of the instructions right on the page of how to use your product.
- Present a case study.
- Add a series of step-by-step images to show a before and after effect for an article.

By uploading the presentation directly on your site you are creating a better user experience for your reader.

There is also another great benefit of Slideshare.net. FREE RESEARCH! That’s right, you heard it, FREE. In the true spirit of the internet, people have made their presentations open to the public. If you go to the site and do a search on a given topic, more then likely you will find more free presentations then you can imagine. Don’t believe me? I did a search on “Career” and got 4,603 presentations.

My key focus is Social Media, and I use this site to find lots of great presentations on my industry. I also gain a great deal of insight into what is being pushed in the mainstream media based on this topic.

So what are you waiting for? Slide in and share your information with others. Open your mind to the wealth of free knowledge.
