Mom Made That! is THE place to LIST, SHOP and SUPPORT mom businesses and blogs. Moms are the most innovative creators, writers, inventors and business owners I know. This site is my way of showcasing their amazing products, ideas, blogs and service.
Why did you decide to start this type of business?
Why did you decide to start this type of business?
Last November, I created a Holiday Gift Guide for my mom blog, MomSpark.net . After meeting so many moms with clever inventions, businesses, and sites, I was inspired to create a year long "guide," and Mom Made That! was born.
What makes your business unique?
What makes your business unique?Mom Made That! is unique because all of our businesses and blogs are mom created and run. Moms can effectively grow and promote their businesses and blogs at much lower rates than conventional advertising or public relations can offer.
Can you share with us the challenges that you have encountered related to starting a business?
The biggest challenge I have faced is getting the word out and getting a "buzz" going about Mom Made That! I spend most of my work time on this effort, and little by little, it snowballs.

I often think of the "How do you eat an elephant?" analogy. I take one bite at a time, and remember that success does not happen overnight. Patience is difficult at times, but necessary when owning a small business.

My biggest success since starting Mom Made That! is hearing how much it has helped my fellow mom businesses. When I learn that a customer used a Mom Made That! coupon code to purchase a mom made item, I get giddy!

Social networks like Facebook and Twitter are, by far, my favorite free resources.

One thing I think people disregard is the time I spend on networking to make this business work. It has taken a lot of effort, but it is so crucial when trying to grow a business.

If your heart is in your business, and you truly believe in what you are selling/offering, you will succeed. You will naturally work harder, and more efficiently, if you love what you do.
